The Idea

Garum Aureus is a canned fish sauce from a fictional company of the same name, born from one question: can a modern product and its label share a genuinely meaningful connection, rather than a decorative one?

The answer came from the Roman Republic an era of grandeur in its laws, its large scale buildings, its arches and domes. And above all from Roman art, which embraced realism: sculpture that recorded daily life and individual character, mosaics of magnificent scale, reliefs that narrated mythology. Garum itself was Rome's actual, beloved fish sauce so the connection isn't a costume. It's a lineage.

The Design Language

Every element on the tin argues for the era. Columns and classical motifs carry the architecture; a Trajan style typeface is a direct reference to Roman letterforms; the red and yellow are the colors Rome is identified with to this day. Fish and sea motifs state plainly what's inside while the columns nod, more elegantly, to when it's from.

The name means "Golden Fish Sauce" in Latin, claiming the quality outright. And the slogan is a wordplay on the most famous sentence Rome ever produced: "Veni, Vidi, Fishy" - I came, I saw, I fished.

The Brand Behind the Tin

The audience is gourmets people who value refined flavors and hunt for experiences they haven't had. The channel strategy matches: gourmet markets, selected online platforms, and restaurants chosen for premium presence rather than reach.

The fiction is built to grow, too: international markets, new flavor options, a wider range. Garum Aureus isn't styled as a souvenir of Rome it's positioned as a brand that treats Roman heritage as a living standard of quality.
